On How I am the Mom God Designed for my Baby

A few days ago my friends threw me a baby shower (and my baby got to attend!). A sweet friend wrote these words on a card: You are the mom that God designed for your baby. And boy, at 5 weeks in after my baby’s birth, do these words ring ever true in my heart.

You have lost track of what time it is. It’s the middle of the night middle of the day. You feel as if you haven’t slept in days. Yet you are the mom God designed for your baby.

It’s 3 o’clock in the afternoon and you yet to take a shower. You are the mom God designed for the baby.

Grandparents say A, your friend says B, this book says C, that book says D, the doctor says E. You are the mom God designed for your baby.

Your baby has been crying for an hour and you haven’t quite learned all his cries just yet. You are the mom God designed for your baby.

You feel like you cannot change one more diaper. You are the mom God designed for your baby.

You have an unprecedented amount of laundry to do. You are the mom God designed for your baby.

You are learning what the best way to feed your baby is. You are the mom God designed for your baby.

Your hormones are causing havoc to your body and you cry over the fact that you ran out of sugar ( or butter or  toothpaste). You are the mom God designed for your baby.

You look at other moms and they seem to have it together. They look great, their babies seem so healthy and they even have time to craft! You are the mom God designed for your baby.

When your baby wakes up suddenly, and all he wants is to cuddle. He quietly falls asleep as you sing to him his favorite song. When you hear your baby’s first cry as he is brought into the world. When you hold him for the first time. When your son recognizes your face and gives you the cutest dimpled grin. When you cry the biggest tears of joy, because you never knew you could love a tiny new being so much, you KNOW you are the mom God designed for your baby.
